APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  1. Formal Application

  2. Parental Statement

    Parent Comments Form

Because parents know their children in ways much different from teachers or counselors, we think it is important to give you the opportunity to write on your daughter's behalf.

  3. Transcript

    Transcript Release Request

Transcripts should be completed by a school official and contain a minimum of two full years of credits, plus the first semester or trimester of the current academic year.  (ex: If you are applying for Grade 10, you should submit a transcript for Grade 7, Grade 8 and the first semester/trimester of Grade 9).

  4. Teacher Recommendations

  5. Testing

    1. SSAT
The SSAT is the Secondary School Admission Test.  If you have not taken this required exam, register to do so, preferably in November, December or January.  Test dates are available in selected areas during the summer.  The exam is given nationwide and in many foreign countries.  Emma Willard's SSAT code is: 2998.
    2. PSAT
    3. SAT
    4. ACT
    5. TOEFL (international)
Emma Willard's TOEFL code is: 8629.  The minimum score for Grade 9 on the iBT is 45 although most accepted students will have a score in excess of 70.  The minimum score for Grade 10 or Grade 11 is 63 with most accepted students having a TOEFL in excess of 80.
    6. IELTS (international)

A candidate applying for Grades 9, 10 or 11 who score 500 or better on all sections of an SAT examination may submit the SAT in lieu of the SSAT requirement.

  6. Interview

An interview with an admissions officer is required of all candidates.

    1. On-campus interview
A visit to Emma's historic and beautiful campus is highly recommended.  This allows the candidate to meet our students, see our faculty in action and speak face-to-face with an admissions officer.  If an international family requires a letter of invitation in order to secure a visitor's visa, please contact Mari Webb.
    2. Off-campus interview
Each year members of the Admissions Office travel around the country and world to conduct interviews with prospective families.  If a candidate is unable to visit campus, an interview may be arranged with an admissions officer while they are on the road.
    3. Skype interview
If a candidate is unable to visit campus and unable to meet with an admissions officer on the road, a Skype interview may be arranged.  The school's policy is that the candidate must submit a complete application (all items above) before a Skype interview will be arranged.  Skype interviews are scheduled by Jeffrey Pilgrim, Director of Admissions.

Visa Requirements

Sharon Busone, the Admissions Office Manager, oversees the school's compliance with the US Government's SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor) Program and issues all I-20 forms for new and returning international students who do not possess a US passport or green card.  I-20's are issued once a girl has officially enrolled and submitted both the enrollment contract and 10% deposit.
