Tuition

The annual boarding tuition covers instruction, room, board, all meals in the dining room, physical training and athletic privileges, use of laboratory and computer equipment, and admission to all school concerts, assemblies, plays, and athletic contests. The annual day student tuition covers all of the above with the exclusion of room.

The annual tuition does not include optional off-campus activities and various weekend activities. Books, athletic equipment, and special services such as private instruction in music or practicum transportation are billed separately.

Essential expenses: This unrestricted category includes academic supplies (purchased at the school store) and activities, art and athletic charges, health care and practicum related transportation, class dues, etc.
Discretionary expenses: This category can be restricted/limited at parents’ request and includes student allowances, non-essential school store charges, calling cards, postage, and student activities.

Books

We have a “virtual” bookstore and ClassBook is our textbook provider. The cost of books and associated course materials averages $350 per term. Orders may be placed online using your credit card or school SmartCard account.

Music and Voice Lessons

pianoStudents will be offered 13 lessons per semester

Each lesson will be for 50 minutes

Students will be allowed to add/drop lessons for up to two weeks or two lessons. If a student drops the course before the third lesson a full refund (less the pro-rated cost of the lessons attended) for the semester will be given. If a student drops the course after the third lesson no refund will be given.

Transportation

Practicum

If a student receives school transportation to and from her Practicum, her SmartCard account is billed at the rates listed below. The charges are per round trip depending on the location and the frequency. One way trips should be charged at 1/2 of the applicable round trip charge

Health Center

From time to time students (primarily boarding) require transportation to and from off-campus medical appointments. They are billed according to the round trip rates below.

School Holiday

Emma Willard provides free, faculty-sponsored transportation to and from the Albany airport, and local rail and bus stations when the school closes for various holidays. There is a charge of $350, however, for students who need transportation to JFK or Newark Airports. This charge is divided equally among the students making the trip together.

Ten students and three faculty members traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, over spring break to volunteer at Layla House, an orphanage housing over 150 children, and AHOPE, an orphanage dedicated to HIV-positive children.
