JV Basketball, Winter 200708
EWS 21 Berlin 28
In spite of a loss at Berlin, the JV Jesters played an outstanding game. Their motion offense plays are developing and providing better scoring opportunities in close to the basket. The Jesters’ man-to-man defense improved significantly from the scrimmage before Thanksgiving break. Led by team captain Annie H’s 10 points, the team came close to their first victory of the season. Additional scoring contributors were Crystal, Adeola, Allie, Anna, and Alisha.
Unfortunately, this was not enough to carry the day. Berlin held on throughout the game and won a narrow victory. Considering that the game was played only one day after our return from Thanksgiving break, one can only be impressed with the caliber of teamwork that the Jesters demonstrated.
EWS 12 Germantown 56
Faced with a very aggressive team, the Jesters had a rough game. With a larger, more experienced opponent, the Jesters were unable to play the game they have shown themselves to be capable of. Germantown jumped out to an early lead, and Emma was unable to catch up throughout the rest of the game. While it was a tough loss, the Jesters came out with a renewed focus to work as a team to succeed. The team is looking forward to going into Christmas break on a positive note after Wednesday’s home game against Ms. Hall’s.
EWS 21Miss Hall’s 35

The Jesters are excited to be back from break, and are looking forward to a successful remainder of their season.
EWS 12Miss Hall’s 35
After a long drive across state lines, the Emma JV team took on an athletic and experienced Miss Hall's team. Despite a strong effort, the baskets would just not fall. The team was 0 for 4 in free throws and managed only 5 successful shots. Defensively, Emma showed improvements across the board with captain Annie H leading the way with 12 rebounds and 5 steals. We look forward to playing Miss Hall's again on our home court.

While it was a tough loss, the Jesters are looking forward to the rest of the season.

The team is looking forward to its game Thursday night against Hadley-Luzerne.
EWS 12Hadley-Luzerne 25
Freshman Anna B had a strong game today against Hadley-Luzerne. From an hour north, Hadley-Luzerne was a formidable opponent that proved to be a challenge against our younger players. Anna and Sarah were the only two scorers, each earning 5 points for the team. Under the boards, Anna nabbed a whopping 7 defensive rebounds while out wide, Sarah hit a long 3-point shot. Today was a difficult game, though hopefully it will help infuse the team with energy for the upcoming game against Hoosick Falls.
EWS 14Hoosick Falls 35
The Jesters lost a well-played game to Hoosick Falls this evening. The team did an excellent job utilizing a 3/2 zone throughout the game. In addition, the Jesters were led by a few of its younger players this evening. Sophomores Libby H and Sarah S led the team in scoring, with 4 points each. In addition, freshmen Catherine M and Hallie L had 2 points each. While it was a tough loss, the Jesters played consistently throughout the game.
EWS 14Berlin 46
The JV basketball team had a rough game with Berlin. We had a hard time moving the ball up the court, which didn’t allow us to have as many scoring opportunities. In the first quarter, we were sent to the foul line only twice, but Anna sunk a basket for us. It wasn’t until the third quarter that we started working together as a team better. Berlin had two girls that were good shooters, which hurt us. Adeola and Sara S were our high scorers of the night. The team looks to start off their next game with Hadley-Luzerne, with better communication on the court.
EWS 22Hadley-Luzerne 29
Across the board, the Jesters played one of their best games last night against HadleyLuzerne. The team played solid defense (a full court press followed by a 3-2 zone) and held their opponents to just 29 points throughout the game. Offensively, the team did an excellent job of passing the ball and looking for an open shot. Sophomore Catherine M had an outstanding game, finishing with 6 points. While the girls played well, they ultimately came up a bit short in the end. With two home games left, the Jesters are hoping to finish the season on a high note.
EWS 16Greenwich 38
The JV basketball team took on a fierce Greenwich team. Both teams matched up well in the first quarter of the game, even though Greenwich took the early lead. We had a hard time beating their full court press, but once we did, we were able to move the ball around well. Annie and Anna led the team with offensive and defensive rebounds, which certainly helped out the team. Sarah S led the team with 6 points and contributed with a steal as well.
Even though we held Greenwich to three points in the third quarter, which was a great turn around, we weren’t able to finish our shots, to make a closer game. The Jesters never gave up and worked very hard at maintaining possession and working the ball into their tall players. Overall, this was a good game, and the lady Jesters certainly made some improvement over the course of the game.
EWS 34AAG 24
The last JV basketball game ended in a much needed and earned victory. The JV team came out to play, and they looked like a new team. The determination and intensity on everyone’s face was quite apparent. After the first quarter we were down by two points, but that didn’t last long. The team was anticipating passes and making great steals. Allie E, Annie H, Crystal R, and Sarah S, each had 3 steals.
Heading into the half Emma was up 162, and they weren’t going to let this game get away from them. Adeola A, Anna B, and Annie H, were the top rebounders for the game. This was an amazing game to watch, all the players were looking to each other and giving good passes and taking good shots. The fourth quarter is when the team took the game away. Annie H was the most valuable player of the game with 15 points, 20 rebounds, and 4 steals. Each member of the team should be proud of their ability to put all the basic skills of basketball together for a win.
