JV Soccer vs. Albany

What a way to end the season! The Jesters took on rival Albany High for their last game of the season. Earlier in the year, Albany had beaten us 3-0 in our first game. This game the Jesters came out fighting and were determined to take home the win. Albany scored first but we fought back with a great goal from Fernanda C. and an assist from our keeper Mar Mar. We stormed ahead with a second goal by Kiki, assisted by Fernanda C. Albany fought back again and scored to make it 2-2. Late in the second half, we received a free kick outside the 18 yard box. Juliana put a great ball into the box and after some scrambling Shannon finished to put Emma Willard ahead 3-2. Albany came back again and scored with a few minutes left into the second half. The game went into overtimes (two 10 minute halves). The first overtime was a true testament of heart, both teams working extremely hard for the win. Our defense held strong and Mar Mar made some great saves. In the second half of overtime we rotated our forwards through to get high pressure. Elsie scored the game winning goal on a brilliant shot and the Jesters won 4-3 in overtime. Congrats Jesters on a great season!

The Jesters took on a very strong team today and lost 6-1. Fernanda C. scored our lone goal in the game but it was not enough to hold off a strong attack by Catholic Central. Cara D. had an excellent game in defense, working hard the entire game. Next up for the Jesters is our last game of the season vs. Albany High on Oct 17th.

JV Soccer at Miss Halls

On a cold and windy Saturday, the Jester's traveled to Miss Hall's. Two minutes into the match vs. Miss Halls, Elsie scored her first goal of the season, followed by another one 10 minutes later, assisted by Cami. These goals were well deserved after working hard to get back to playing with the team following wrist surgery this summer! A number of players got into the scoring mix in the game today. Kiki had an assist and goal. Fernanda C. had a goal with an excellent assist by Morgan. Morgan also scored a great goal after beating a player one v. one in the box. Anna scored twice and Juliana had 3 assists playing from the central midfield position. Stepping up for us in goal were Mar Mar, Fernanda C, and Kayla. We played solid possesion with a number of give and go's that opened up the field. The team also worked on switching the field and we had a number of players included Kayla and Cara that sent beautiful long balls to the corners. Karen, Fernanda R. and Christina had solid games helping us keep the attack on our end of the half. Our rotating defense of Cara, Heidi, Kiki, Elise, and Nane did an excellent job of stepping in front of Miss Hall's players and winning the ball. Shannon worked the wings in the midfield and was able to get off a number of shots. We are looking forward to our next home game vs. Catholic Central on Friday.

JV Soccer vs. Hoosick Falls

This was our second game against Hoosick Falls this season and we came out to play. We held them scoreless for the first 12 minutes before they got on the board. We followed up with a goal a few minutes later by Kiki and an assist by Fernanda C. This goal was one of the best of the season, with our team connecting 5 passes leading to the final pass and Kiki finishing a great shot. Hoosick Falls then stepped it up and put in 3 more goals in the first half. During the second half, we switched up the line-up and were able to regain our momentum again. Nane had a great game as a center back, playing in that position for the first time. Mar Mar came up with some great saves to keep us in the game. Fernanda C. finished a great breakaway goal to make the score 5-2. We held them to a tie in goals the second half 1-1 and were able to hold our own. Great job Jesters! Our next game is Saturday Oct 6th away at Miss Halls.

JV Soccer at Berlin

JV Soccer lost a heartbreaker to Berlin today. We outshot Berlin by 15 shots but could not put the ball in the back of the net. Berlin's keeper had an outstanding game stopping all of our breakaway attempts except for one. Fernanda C. scored another one of her great goals to tie the score 1-1 but we could not add another goal, finally losing 2-1. Kiki stepped up and played center back for us and kept the defense together. Morgan had an outstanding game in the center midfield position, possessing and laying the ball off to our forwards. Juliana stepped up in goal and played an outstanding game. Kayla held her own as the defensive mid and won some tough battles in the middle. Our defenders and midfielders stayed strong. Despite the loss, the team is continuing to improve and their hard work is paying off. We are looking forward to our rematch vs. Hoosick Falls tomorrow.

JV Soccer at Hoosac

JV Soccer had one of their best games of the season today. Motivated after going to watch RPI vs. William Smith the previous day, the team brought some college soccer concepts into their play. We had our best passing game to date, working the ball around the entire field, and playing it back when necessary. We were able to string 5-6 passes together at a time. Fernanda C. had a great hat trick and scored three nice goals. Shannon scored a great goal with a beautiful assist from Elsie. Mar Mar played first half in goal and had 5 saves. Juliana stepped up and played goalie in the second half and did a great job. Cami, Karen, Emma M., and Fernanda R. played tough on the attack and in the middle and provided a spark to the team with their heading and volleying skills. Morgan and Ana had great footwork up top and kept the ball moving. Kiki in her new role as center back played brilliantly and kept things in control. Marianne, Madison, Cara, Heidi, and Kayla played solid defense and were instrumental in keeping possesion and getting the ball forward to attack. Next up for the Jesters is a rematch vs. Berlin on Wednesday.

JV Soccer started off very strong in this game dominating play from the start. Seven different players scored for us (Fernanda C., Kiki, Heidi, Cara, Shannon, Emma, and Sam). The team worked hard and played together from the start. The defense held strong and played well together. Hoosac had two great goals off of a penalty kick and a nice shot from outside the 18 yard box. Next up for Emma is Hoosac again this Saturday.

The Jesters had an outstanding game today holding their own against a varsity squad from Lake Placid. Our excellent passing and movement off the ball created a number of scoring chances for our team. We were able to capitalize on two free kicks with goals. Fernanda C. '16 scored a beautiful goal from a free kick outside of the 18 yard box and Juliana '16 had a great free kick inside of the box that deflected off one of Northwood's players and went in. Our defense worked really well together with Kayla '16 and Madison '16 playing tough in the middle and limiting Northwood's attacking chances. Fernanda C. was able to get another goal on a breakaway and just missed on a penalty kick. Northwood had a number of athletic players and finished some great goals off of crosses. They held onto a 6-3 lead. Up next for the Jesters is a home game vs. Hoosac.

JV Soccer came up against a very strong opponent in Hoosick Falls. They were a very skilled and athletic team and took control early. We held strong the first 10 minutes and then were not able to keep up with their skilled attack. Mar Mar '15 played well in goal with 16 saves. Fernanda C. '16 was able to get a few shots off on goal. It is great to play stronger teams then us as it keeps us focused on getting better. Next up for the Jesters is Northwood on Wednesday Sept 19th.

JV Soccer had an outstanding game today and worked on playing as a team. All of our players were able to try different positions and worked on technical and tactical aspects of the game that we have been working on during practice. Goals came from: Fernanda C. (2), Heidi (2), Shannon (2), Morgan (2), Camilla (2), Sam (2), Marrianne (1), Maggie (1),and Emma (1). Up next for the Jesters is Hoosick Falls on Monday Sept 17th.

JV soccer won their first game of the season! It was a battle to the very end, both teams fighting hard until the final whistle. Our goalkeepers Ruby and Mar Mar were very impressive coming up with big saves in each half to keep us in the game. Maggie scored a huge goal in the first half to put us ahead 1-0 with a beautiful assist from Ana. Maggie placed it perfectly in the far post corner with a left-footed strike. Our solid defensive unit of Heidi, Cara, Madison, Kayla, Emma, and Juliana held the team scoreless. Our midfielders Morgan, Karen, Shannon, Camila, Christina, and Fernanda R. kept the pressure on their forwards and defense. Our attacking unit of Fernanda C, Marrianne, Ana, and Sam had close scoring chances and worked together really well. The team was very excited to come through with a win in the end after all of their hard work. Next up for the Jesters is a home game vs. Miss Halls Saturday Sept 15th.

JV Soccer at Troy High Tournament vs. Troy

The Jesters came up against a stronger and faster Troy High JV soccer team today. Our defense put in a great effort and worked hard together. Despite our efforts, Troy had some very tenancious forwards that consistently found the net. We scored our first two goals of the season: Sam on a breakaway with the goalie, and Shannon on a far post cross. Our passing continued to improve thoughout the game. We had a number of breakaway chances with the goalie and could not finish. We are looking forward to our first two home games this week. Next up is Berlin on Wednesday Sept 12th, 2012.

JV Soccer at Troy High Tournament vs. Albany

The Jester JV Soccer soccer team played their first game of the season vs. Albany High at the Troy High Tournament. On a brand new turf field, the Jesters started the game strong, holding their own. Kiki lead the team with 3 shots. Morgan almost scored on a brilliant header off a corner kick as it just missed wide. Albany finally found the net and led 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, Albany picked up the pace and scored two more quick goals. The Jesters had a few oppportunties but couldn't find the back of the net. Both Ruby and Mar Mar came up with great saves to keep the Jesters in the game. We are looking forward to our next game vs. Troy High tomorrow.
