On Sunday, August 26, 2012, Emma Willard School was finally flooded once again with students. The hallways came back to life as girls poured into the school from all over the country and all over the world to kick off the new opening week.
On Opening Day, parents and boarding students, aided by eager proctors, peer educators, teachers, and staff performed the long journey from car to residential halls. All students and parents later had the opportunity to meet advisors, before parents were given final hugs from their daughters, and an official send off by Head of School Trudy Hall.
Rounding out a full afternoon, athletes had their very first pre-season practices. The day ended with advisors and advisees picnicking together on the grass in front of Kellas Hall with the sun setting behind them.
