From scavenger hunts and movies on the lawn to Opening Convocation, faculty, staff, and students enjoyed a successful opening week of school. The new opening week, which kicked off on August 26, 2012, brought all the girls to campus on the same day and allowed the girls to get to know their teachers, advisors, and fellow students. New and traditional events highlighted the week, which was jam-packed with programs, practices, placement tests, auditions, and residential activities. As part of the festivities, each class had a class retreat, focused on getting to know their classmates and all students had a special lunch with their advisors. The whole school also enjoyed our very own Amazing Race as the proctors took us on a campus-wide scavenger hunt. Preseason athletic practices got off to a great start during the week as well. Those students who are not in athletics had the opportunity to take part in fun mini classes that ranged from abstract painting and essay writing to zumba. These are just a few of the events that took place during the very full week. Classrooms now stand at the ready for the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 4.
