his is a rather auspicious moment at Emma Willard. The school is undertaking a new strategic planning process and is in the final year of the largest fundraising campaign in girls’ school history. As it plans for the future, Emma Willard has two key administrative openings, positions that will play vital roles in meeting the goals of its strategic plan. They are: Director of Enrollment Management and Director of Communications.

Director of Enrollment Management

The Director of Enrollment Management will oversee the admissions and financial aid program from inquiry to enrollment. Candidates should have a minimum of 5-8 years of admissions experience, preferably at the secondary school or collegiate level. Demonstrated evidence of effective leadership and management capability is essential. Creativity, responsiveness to change, and strong written and verbal communication skills are required. A willingness to work independently as well as a collegial member of a team and community are important. A bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree preferred.

Director of Communications

The Director of Communications will oversee all aspects of the school’s communications program. This will include responsibility for ensuring that all school communications are strategic, synergistic, inventive, of high quality, and cost effective. The development and communication of the school’s identity and communications platform for use in all media will be central to this position. It also requires a thorough understanding of marketing principles with demonstrated experience in using and managing media relations, market research, advertising, promotions, and creative services. A bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of related experience, preferably in an educational setting, are required; an advanced degree is preferred.

These positions require special professionals with backgrounds characterized by creative achievement, initiative, success and a management style that encourages others to collaborate.
