Faculty
The Emma Willard faculty is mindful that a teacher’s influence can reach beyond the classroom and that this is both a responsibility and a privilege. In thoughtful lectures, in the dynamics of classroom give-and-take, in tutorials, in the introspective dialogue of the advisor/advisee relationship, the Emma Willard faculty epitomizes the satisfactions of an intellectual life, the energizing vigor of discovery and exchange, and the personal and professional rewards of learning as a lifelong process.
Emma Willard faculty members live on or near campus, bringing to this community an accessibility and a generosity of spirit that know no bounds. Unlike some schools, Emma Willard does not require the teaching faculty to live in the residence halls; we believe a teacher’s first obligation is to be an academic professional and mentor–a role model.
