Emma Willard is pleased to provide you with recommended reading from Head of School Trudy Hall, as well as links to leading organizations in the field of independent schools and single-sex education:

The Association of Boarding Schools

The Association of Boarding Schools leads a national and international effort to promote awareness and understanding of boarding schools, expand the applicant pool for our membership, and offer support and direction for residential life programs.

National Association of Independent Schools

Independent schools are primarily supported by tuition payments, charitable contributions, and endowment revenue. The National Association of Independent Schools is the national voice of independent education; it represents nearly 1,200 U.S. independent schools, including day, boarding, and day/boarding schools; elementary and secondary schools; boys’, girls’, and coeducational schools.

National Coalition of Girls’ Schools

The National Coalition of Girls’ Schools is an association of girls’ independent and public, day and boarding schools across the United States, with affiliate partners in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. NCGS members share a commitment to the values and benefits of single-sex schools for girls and a belief that all girls, regardless of educational setting, deserve the opportunity to realize their potential, to be active and equal, confident and competent leaders, participants, and contributors.
