This course was designed to gradually make us aware of shapes, lines, space, value, and color so that we can become comfortable with both drawing and painting in realistic and abstract fashions. We do both small and large projects in class with a sketch book assignment due every Monday relating to the topics we are covering in class. After we complete a project or assignment we spend time analyzing and critiquing the work, so as to encourage thoughts and ideas about artwork. Thus far, we have learned about lines, shapes, value, and working with pencil and charcoal. Now, our class has moved on to paints and experimenting with color. Today we discussed the plan for our upcoming big project with paints and chose the reference from which we will be painting.
