Chasing the Cure for Neuroblastoma
October 17, 2007
ace for a Cause, a student-run community-service group at Emma Willard School, will host a 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk called Chasing the Cure for Neuroblastoma, to raise funds in support of research for the disease. The race is open to the general public and will take place on Saturday, November 3, on the scenic Emma Willard School campus in Troy from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. There will also be a raffle and prizes awarded. Donations are welcomed. Registration (in advance) is $20 per adult and $15 for children under 12, or $30 on race day.
Neuroblastoma is a form of childhood cancer that strikes between 500 and 1,000 children each year in the United States. It typically affects children under the age of 14 and is not uncommon in infants. “Recently, an infant child of an Emma Willard employee was diagnosed with neuroblastoma,” said Danielle Volman, a senior and student leader of Race for a Cause. “People throughout the community have helped out in numerous ways, and we wanted Race for a Cause to help out, too.”
