The Innovation Challenge at Emma Willard
December 12, 2007
mma Willard School, in partnership with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will host The Innovation Challenge, a juried science and technology competition for area high school students on Saturday, March 29, 2008, on the Emma Willard campus.
The Innovation Challenge competition was designed by a team of Emma Willard students and RPI faculty to encourage innovative thinking through the application of math, science, and technology to the solution of a regional problem. This year’s theme will be communication technology on school campuses. The competition is open to all Capital District high school students in teams of two to four.
Teams must first submit a first round creative qualifier due January 18, 2008, in order to compete. First prize for the competition is $1,000; second prize is $500; and third prize is $250. View additional details, important dates, and qualifying instructions here or email questions to competition@emmawillard.org.
Displays will be on view in Emma Willard’s Dietel Gallery and presentations will be given in the nearby Maguire Auditorium. The competition will be judged by a team including RPI, Emma Willard, and other faculty members. The event is open to the public. Last year’s winning entry was titled “All Roads Lead to Hydrogen Fuel,” and was presented by three students from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School.
