Innovation Challenge Set for Saturday

mma Willard School, in partnership with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will host The Innovation Challenge, a juried science and technology competition for area high school students on Saturday, April 28, 2007 on the campus of Emma Willard.
The Innovation Challenge is a competition designed by a team of Emma Willard students and RPI faculty to encourage innovative thinking through the application of math, science, and technology to the solution of a regional problem. Teams representing five Capital District high schoolsColonie Central High School, Rondout Valley High School, Niskayuna High School, Burnt Hills/Ballston Lake High School, and Emma Willard Schoolwill present poster displays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and deliver presentations beginning at 10 a.m. on topics such as ethanol use, capturing tidal energy, pollution control, and more. Displays will be on view in Emma Willard’s Dietel Gallery and presentations will be given in the nearby Maguire Auditorium. The presentations will be judged by a team including RPI, Emma Willard, and other faculty members. The event is open to the public.
