The Emma Willard Dance Company is an advanced level performing group chosen and directed by our dance faculty, Sue Lauther and Barbara Magee. Students chosen to participate in this class are intermediate to advanced level technicians who are personally responsible and have shown a strong commitment to dance at Emma Willard.
This class provides an opportunity for students to expand their dance experience by learning original choreography at a professional level, performing in a variety of venues for diverse audiences, and broadening their knowledge base through participation in classes and performance viewing of many different dance styles. Their final concert provides them with a glimpse of the production requirements for a professional level dance concert. Inspired by their experiences, Emma Willard graduates appreciate the art of dance at many different levels, including as audience members, hobbyists, or professional dancers.
It is not just an activity, but it is a learning of an art form, a strengthening of will power and physical power and also a mindset that is open to different and new ideas and to cooperation, not competition, and trust.
