The Emma Willard Writer’s Retreat gives young women with a love of writing the opportunity to explore their emerging talent and flex their writing muscles. Focused on writers entering grades 8 through 12, the boarding program combines specialized courses, activities, and field trips. The program seeks to help girls find and express their voice whether it is through prosaic poetry or fun food blogging. Take a look at some of the course offerings planned for this summer.

All writers live on our historic campus together with residential faculty members and current Emma students as well as girls from around the world staying as part of our international summer program. Evenings are filled with hall activities and local outings that quickly create a feeling of community. In the afternoons and on weekends, girls will be able to experience many cultural and recreational activities both on campus and in the Capital Region as well as day trips to Boston and New York City.
