Areas of Study
Science
ur
science program engages students in the study of natural processes:
what’s happening, and why. We work independently, we work in groups,
and we complete labs, experimental design, and long-term research. We observe
and interpret results of scientific situations. We learn to approach problems
rationally and methodically. What does modern-day animal behavior reveal
about evolution? What happens in your brain when a memory is made? Whether
studying astrobiology, ethics in science, or the physical world, our students
have numerous opportunities to
explore,
question, and understand.
The school’s state-of-the-art facilities provide the ideal setting
to encourage the logic, structure, and creativity that are part of scientific
learning and thought. The Hunter
Science Center’s six laboratories are innovative and flexible
in design, allowing for individual lab work, computer simulations, small
group studies, lectures, and demonstrations in one space.
The Hunter Science Center is a modern teaching facility built around
the way girls learn best: through hands-on, interactive projects that encourage
collaboration. The floor plan itself is revolutionary, built on the concept
of a “fractal,” a scientific term meaning that the smallest element
replicates the largest.
