weekends arrive, you can explore a range of fun
options both on and off campus, from movies, concerts, and
plays to ski trips and shopping. The Pepsi Arena and Palace Theatre in
nearby Albany are big-time venues for national entertainment. Critically
acclaimed exhibitions at Skidmore College’s Tang Museum in Saratoga
Springs or the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art just over the
state line repeatedly draw Emma Willard students into the arts scene.
On campus, we host an array of events with other schools, plus weekend short courses like Italian cooking, meditation, and swing dancing. Of course, we have our own Prom! Emma also frequently travels to nearby schools for dances and other social get-togethers such as hiking adventures or cultural events. And don’t forget that we’re just a few hours from the Big Apple and Boston—popular destinations for day or weekend outings.
A great way to meet boys other than through dances and field trips is to join the groups of students who regularly go off campus to speech and debate tournaments, Model Congress, and mock trial competitions. You might find yourself at Harvard or Princeton, in Washington, D.C., or competing regionally against quiz teams in a Jeopardy format. Spirited connections with other smart girls and boys are rewards in themselves.
