Finearts

One of the best parts about the fine arts program is that the students have plenty of opportunities to explore personal interests through their art. Each project focuses on a specific medium or technique and allows the student flexibility in structure and subject matter.

This is an engaging and hands-on course, structured to instruct artists from the beginner to the experienced, the shy to the selfconfident. Girls work on a multitude of projects, and the end of each session culminates in a class-curated exhibit of their work.

All students develop their skills in the following areas.

Drawing

Practice proportion, line quality, and perspective. Experiment with charcoal, pencil, pastel, marker, and other drawing tools. Use self-portraits and still life to focus your skills.

Mixed media and collage

Combine drawn elements with photographs, graphics, type, and found objects. Learn to use a range of media in a cohesive and intriguing piece.

Painting and print-making

Explore different styles and techniques. Focus on subject matter, use of color, application of paint, and style. Use these same principles to experiment with print-making, as well.

Museum Trips

Each summer, our Fine Arts students visit world famous museums in NYC, such as the MoMA and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
