Service Learning

In To Be of Use, poet Marge Piercy wrote, “The pitcher cries for water to carry, and a person for work that is real.”

Service Learning provides an opportunity for students to connect their classroom learning to their ability to create positive change in the world; thus empowering them in their own educational journeys.

Service learning is done for both affect and intellect, and allows students to develop deep, long-lasting connections to the material. The skills and knowledge students acquire in the classroom become the applied tools through which authentic community needs are explored and met.
