Session I program
p5.js and Processing
July 8-19, 2019 (Day) / July 7-20, 2019 (Boarding)
This session coding intensive will focus on the language p5.js and Processing, which is an easily-accessible programming language where student create and manipulate shapes, objects, colors, etc. to develop programs that are interactive and engaging. While learning the foundations of computer science, students will code programs (individually, in pairs, and in groups) that are responsive and personalized from the very beginning. From interactive animations to generative art to music visualizations, the possibilities of programming with p5.js and Processing will be explored over these two weeks.
Session II program
Intro to Technical Design: Imagination, Technology, and Team Dynamics
July 22-August 2, 2019 (Day) / July 21-August 3, 2019 (Boarding)
In this session coding intensive, students will use technology to bring their imaginations to life. Participants will learn universal programming principles including loops, conditionals, and variables, and they will brainstorm solutions to real-world problems. Camp members will refine ideas and build projects in small teams, employing group productivity strategies used by design teams in Silicon Valley and at institutions like MIT.
Students may be interested in improving animal welfare, or maybe in global access to food or education. They may be interested in solving problems in their own lives or ones no one else has thought of yet. Whatever students' interests are, this intensive is about using technology and imagination to improve the real world.
