The 1814 Association
Leadership Giving
Named for the school’s founding year, The 1814 Association recognizes philanthropic leadership across every constituency—alumnae, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, students, and friends of the school. Members provided more than 90% of all money raised through The Emma Fund in 2018-2019 in addition to funding specific projects and areas of need such as scholarships and student opportunities, campus renewal, instructional technology, faculty support, and student programming. Their ongoing generosity ensures the financial well-being of Emma Willard School and bridges the gap between revenue and tuition and investments and the actual cost of educating our students to serve and shape their world.

“How many opportunities do we have in our lives to make a concrete expression of our values? Giving is such an act of joy...giving back to Emma Willard resonates with my values and the good work I want to do in the world through our graduates.”
“Emma Willard opened my eyes to the world...I learned that an educated girl could do whatever she wanted and worked for. I learned to think for myself and to make educated choices. Emma Willard School shaped the person I am today. It is an honor to support the school.”
“To be a school with all girls, where learning was the central focus, was a wonderful gift for me that I would like to give back to current students through annual giving to Emma Willard. This year my gift served as a way to thank the staff, faculty, and students whose creativity, adaptability, and steadfast will kept our school strong through uncertain times.”
“Emma Willard offered me a traditional, incredibly strong, college-preparatory education wrapped in an anything-but-traditional environment—one where passionate debate, intellectual curiosity, and, above all, differences are honored and celebrated. I give back to Emma out of both gratitude and hope.”
