Isaac H. '19 Named National Merit Scholar Finalist
Emma Willard School is proud to announce senior Isaac H. has earned the status of National Merit Finalist by the National Merit® Scholarship Program. Head of School Jenny Rao made the announcement at Morning Reports on Friday, March 1.
For 64 years, the National Merit® Scholarship Program has conducted one of the country’s leading academic competitions for recognition and scholarships. Students who are citizens of the United States enter the National Merit competition by taking the Preliminary SAT in the fall of their junior year. Each year, the PSAT serves as an initial screen of approximately 1.6 million entrants.
Of these, 34,000 were identified last spring as Commended Scholars. 47% of these Commended Scholars advanced to become National Merit Semi-Finalists, and out of this group, some 15,000 have now advanced to National Merit Finalist status. National Merit Finalists thus represent less than the top one percent of the students who entered this competition. Approximately half of those designated as Finalists will go on to become National Merit Scholarship Winners later this spring.
Please join us in congratulating Isaac H. on earning the National Merit Scholarship Program Certificate of Achievement!
