On Thursday morning, faculty and staff gathered for the year's first Community Coffee in Sage Study. Among them were several of our new staff members. From campus safety to communications to admissions, you will see several new faces at Emma Willard this year. Please join us in welcoming the following new staff.
Morgan Bernat, Admissions and GirlSummer Program Manager, received her B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Dance at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. Morgan joins us from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she was a program manager for the annual giving program. Prior to being a program manager, Morgan worked with the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Northeastern NY and VT and helped coordinate a number of events for Dance while at The College at Brockport.
Daniel Carpenter, Campus Safety Officer, attended Keveny Memorial Academy, and Hudson Valley CC. Dan comes to us after recently retiring with over 20 years of service as a Police Officer in the City of Watervliet. Dan also works as a Campus Safety Officer for Russell Sage College. Dan’s background, training and certifications in many law enforcement related areas will make him an asset within the Campus Safety Department, and the entire Emma Community. Dan has an extensive Coaching Career at the College and High School levels. Dan coached Soccer at Siena College, and Soccer and Basketball at Catholic Central High School. Dan is married and has 2 children.
Suzanne Dewey, Head of Strategic Communications, Suzanne has over 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, and strategic planning. Most recently, Suzanne served as the Director of Strategic Marketing and Communications at Holderness School in New Hampshire. At Holderness, Suzanne helped in the completion of a $25 million capital campaign and worked on re-positioning the school in the market with a delineated strategy and brand presence. Prior to Holderness, Suzanne was Director of Marketing and Business Development at the Austen Riggs Center in Stockbridge, MA. Her earlier experience includes creating her own development and management consultancy firm, Director of the Annual Fund at Buxton School, Executive Director of the Williamstown Chamber of Commerce and a teacher and dorm advisor at Holderness School. Suzanne holds a B.A. in English from Occidental College and an M.B.A. from Boston University Graduate School of Management. She lives in Williamstown, MA with her husband, Dave, and has three grown children.
Melissia Mason, Assistant Director of Communications, graduated from McMurry University and received a BA summa cum laude in Communication. She also earned her MA in Communication Studies from Regent University. Melissia recently relocated to the Albany area after spending the
last 13 years as director of communications at an active, outreach-focused, community-oriented church in Grapevine, Texas
. She has also worked as a freelance web designer and is an accomplished writer and graphic designer. Her multi-year work in not-for-profits has helped her hone her marketing skills in engaging with diverse audiences. She has a passion for genealogy and her two dogs, Meg and Maya.
Michael McCaffery, Campus Safety Officer, attended Catholic Central High School. Michael comes to us having been a Bail Bondsman for Perfetti-bail bonds. Prior to that position, he worked in various companies and organizations in the Capital District including at the New York State Senate, Martels at the Newcourse in A
lbany, Ralph’s Tavern and The Country Club of Troy.
Kaitlin Resler, Digital Marketing Strategist, graduated from the University of Albany with a BA and an MA in English. Her master’s thesis was “Edible Poetics: Investigating the Role of the Edible in John Keats’s Poems and Letters.” In her recent work with AVI FoodSystems Siena Fresh, she was responsible for web-based marketing and print-based graphic design. She enjoyed nine years working as project development assistant/assistant manager at Crisan Bakery and Edible Art Gallery with current faculty m
ember Claudia Calabria. Kaitlin has created and manages an online store for vintage and antique clothing. She sources, curates, and photographs all items and leverages her online presence with social media channels to enhance traffic and engagement. She has an interest in the importance of women and girls participating fully in a modern social construct and credits that focus on her education in a girls’ high school.
Chad Robillard, Campus Safety Officer, attended Catholic Central High School, and Sage Junior College of Albany. Chad comes to us after recently retiring with 23 years of service as a Police Officer in the City of Cohoes. Chad’s background, training and certifications in many law enforcement related areas will make him an asset within the Campus Safety Department, and the entire Emma Community. Chad is a sports enthusiast and can still be found often on the Basketball court keeping up on his skills. Chad is married and has 2 daughters.
Kimberly Tesch, Campus Safety Receptionist, received her Associate of Applied Science at Hudson Valley Community College and her B.S. in Science at The College of Saint Rose. Kim was most recently the interim receptionist at Emma Willard School. She has also assisted in the b
usiness office and with alumnae relations, quickly becoming an important member of our community.
