Carolyn Busch Foster '71 - Service to Emma Willard
Carolyn Busch Foster ’71 has stayed connected to Emma Willard School and her classmates through her fourteen years of service as a Bulletin Reporter, saying she gladly “connects the threads of 50 years of living, joys, heartbreaks, challenges, creativity, adventure, intelligence, caring, loving, and perseverance which deeply touch me.”
A dedicated ambassador for the school, Carolyn has moderated virtual gatherings with members of her class to kick off their celebratory 50th reunion, actively rallying classmates to join in the conversations. She encouraged those who were unable to participate to reach out to her to tell their stories in the Class of ’71 Class Notes section of Signature magazine. A passionate sleuth, she has found classmates and reengaged them with their class and their alma mater, strengthening the alumnae network with each of these reconnections.
A professional photographer by trade, Carolyn's passion for photography was nurtured at Emma Willard, and formed the basis for a long career in corporate and high-end family portraiture. Her classmates and our school have benefited from her talent for capturing alumnae stories and her dedication to building “friendship’s alchemy” classmate by classmate.
For giving generously and faithfully of her time and connective talents to her grateful alma mater, the Emma Willard community proudly bestows upon Class of 1971 Bulletin Reporter Carolyn Busch Foster the 2021 Service to Emma Willard Award.
