Anyla has concluded a remarkable high school track and field career as this season’s outdoor sectional champion, sealing her place as one of the most decorated and prolific athletes in Emma Willard School history.

Anyla's final chapter unfolded at the New York State Track and Field Championships in Middletown, New York, where she competed in the 400m after an extraordinary season marked by resilience, leadership, and record-breaking performances. This spring, Anyla shattered the school’s outdoor 400m record with a time of 58.81 seconds at the prestigious Eddy Meet, which was her 5th school track and field record in her senior year. She dominated the Wasaren League Championships, winning both the 200m and 400m, and finishing second in the 100m.

Her strength and consistency continued as she anchored the 4x400m relay team, leading the Emma Willard Outdoor Track and Field team to a second-place finish at the Wasaren League Championship this spring. In doing so, she qualified for the Section 2 state qualifiers in all three sprint events—100m, 200m, and 400m—before returning to the NYS Championships for a final showcase.

What sets Anyla apart is not only her athletic prowess but also her dedication to personal growth and her quiet, steadfast leadership. Over her high school career, she demonstrated unwavering focus—cutting her 100m time from 14.6 seconds as a freshman to 12.39 seconds as a senior, and achieving school records in the indoor track 200m, 300m, 400m, and 4x400m relay races.

Anyla's ability to make adjustments, challenge herself, and mentor others made her an indispensable member of the team and a role model for younger athletes. As sprint captain and squad leader, she inspired by example, offering encouragement in practice and competitions while exemplifying sportsmanship, grace, and fair play. Anyla’s lasting legacy lies not only in her medals and records but in the positive influence she’s had on teammates, coaches, and the entire Emma Willard athletic community.

As Anyla embarks on her next chapter at Howard University in Washington, DC, where she will pursue a degree in business management, we send our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for continued success and growth in all her future endeavors.
