From its very earliest days, the student body at Emma Willard School has included those from all over the world. International students represent approximately 29 percent of the Emma Willard School student body. Recently, our campus has celebrated the diverse backgrounds and cultures that international students bring to Emma Willard School.

These events were not only an opportunity for students to showcase their unique traditions and talents but also a chance for everyone to learn, connect, and celebrate the global spirit that defines our school.

The International Student Union (ISU) hosted its second annual Around the World Fair on November 8th, including a variety of activities during which students shared their languages, cultures, arts and crafts, childhood games, and snacks with the community.

The following Friday, Clara L. '26 and Alicia L. ’25 led a Morning Reports presentation, noting the national celebration over the coming weekend and reading a list of countries represented at our school:

International Students’ Day, which is on November 17 (this Sunday), is a day dedicated to honoring the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and stories that international students bring to schools and universities around the world

Here at Emma, we have over 100 international students representing 38 countries, territories, and parts of the world. Each brings unique experiences, perspectives, and traditions to our campus.”

Students processed through the Morning Reports crowd to the front of the room, where they held their flags in a display, alongside a projected screen showing more flags from countries that are a part of our community but were not in the procession:

Through sharing their cultures, our students strengthened the bonds that make Emma home for so many. Events like these remind us that celebrating diversity not only enriches our community but also prepares us to thrive in an interconnected world. Thank you to ISU and all the community members who helped make these celebrations amazing!
