Last Friday, we welcomed families back to campus for Fall Family Weekend! Students join families to connect with the campus community, check out their student’s academic experiences, and spend time enjoying the crisp fall weather on our iconic campus.

Corners of campus were decorated with bales of hay, corn stalks, colorful mums, and of course, pumpkins! Many families joined their students on campus to get a glimpse of life at Emma now that the school year has been in full-swing for a few weeks.

Friday’s Morning Reports took place in the gym to accommodate our campus guests, with a special welcome from Head of School Dr. Karen Lassey (her first Fall Family Weekend at Emma!), remarks on Indigenous People’s Day, a reminder from Willard’s Wardrobe to source Halloween costumes from the store, a round of applause and acknowledgement for our red-tier student leaders, and a game of pop-culture revenge (millennial and gen x pop culture jeopardy for current students to play, in response to a similar game at morning reports some weeks ago), all with a side of cider donuts for breakfast!

An abbreviated schedule allowed families to visit all their student’s classes with them, as well as getting some time to meet with advisors and teachers one-on-one and to connect with the college counseling team.

Alongside the more academic offerings of the weekend there are plenty of opportunities for fun! The lawn outside Dietel Library was abuzz with fall activities, from pumpkin painting to cider making. Students enjoyed taking photos with their pumpkins and the burgeoning fall foliage, and making various crafts in the sunny afternoon.
