The Emma Willard track and field team delivered an impressive performance at the 2026 Wasaren League Championships, highlighted by multiple event victories, strong distance running depth, and an outstanding pentathlon title from Zoe A-H. ’26. Emma Willard finished third overall in the team standings with 68.5 points, trailing only Hoosic Valley and Mechanicville Central.

The meet also marked the final Wasaren League Championship appearance for Emma Willard senior captains Zoe A-H. ’26 and Simi A-H. ’26, who helped lead the program throughout the season and closed out their league championship careers with standout performances.

Standout Sky P. ’29 led the charge on the track with a league championship in the 1500 meters, crossing the line first in 5:16.99. Sky also added a runner-up finish in the 800 meters with a time of 2:31.46, helping anchor Emma Willard’s dominant middle-distance squad. Francesca T. ’28 joined Sky on the podium in the 1500, placing third in 5:33.67, and later added a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters.

Emma Willard also captured the 4x800-meter relay title, finishing first in 10:41.14 to secure another 10 team points. The relay victory showcased the team’s depth in distance events throughout the meet and the entire season.

In the hurdles, Simi A-H. ’26 delivered a strong final league championship performance, earning third place in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.37 and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.59. Hazel L. ’27 added points in the 100-meter hurdles with a fifth-place finish while also competing in both sprint races.

The biggest individual performance of the meet came from Zoe A-H. ’26, who won the Girls Outdoor Pentathlon with 1,970 points. Zoe’s victory was especially meaningful as she also captured the Wasaren League Pentathlon Championship during her freshman season, finishing her Emma Willard league career by reclaiming the title as a senior captain. The pentathlon came down to one of the most exciting finishes of the evening in the final event, the 800 meters, where Zoe held on to secure the overall pentathlon championship by just seven points. Zoe placed in every event, including a win in the shot put and strong runner-up finishes in the hurdles, long jump, and 800 meters. Bowe S. ’28 also placed in the pentathlon, finishing eighth overall.

Emma Willard’s distance runners continued to pile up points throughout the meet. Lillian H. ’27 placed fourth in the 3000 meters, while teammate Abbe A.-N. ’27 earned sixth. Vivian T. ’28 contributed additional scoring in the 800 meters with a fifth-place finish.

In the field events, Liji H. ’27 tied for fifth in the high jump, and Violet K. ’27 narrowly missed scoring positions in both the long jump and triple jump. Lucy N. ’28 posted a top-10 finish in the discus throw, while Christine I-K. ’27 competed in both the discus and shot put.

Emma Willard also earned points in the 4x400-meter relay, finishing fifth overall in 4:33.86. The team’s balance across distance, hurdles, relays, and multi-events helped produce one of the school’s strongest meet performances of the season.

The Wasaren League Championships marked the final league meet of the outdoor track season. Several members of the team will continue their postseason competition on Wednesday, May 27, at Averill Park for the Section 2 Group 2 Sectional Championships.
