At the Luciano Memorial Invitational on a rainy Saturday, April 29, Multi Events Captain, Bella H. ’, sprinted down the runway and launched the Javelin 69’ 11” on her third attempt to record Emma Willard 5th furthest Javelin throw in Emma’s Track history. New York State does not allow for Javelin competition in high school league meets so it is only contested at a very few special invitational track meets. It capped a wonderful track and field career for the senior Captain who is looking forward to starting college in the fall.
Zoe A-H. ’26 entered her first ever Pentathlon as a 9th grader and stunned the Emma community with a truly historic performance. In the cold and steady rain, Zoe ran a 21.89 100H, threw 5.45m in the shot put, jumped 1.25m in the High Jump, jumped 3.60m in the long jump and ran a 2:49.86 800m to place 8th in a field of 19 in the competition. Zoe not only broke Emma Willard’s freshman record in the Pentathlon but also tied for 10th on Emma Willard’s all-time Pentathlon list with 1445 total points.
Track and Field Sprint Squad Leader Anyla L. ’24 continues to be among the best sprinters in Section 2 winning a medal for her third-place finish in the 200m with a time of 28.38. Aisha R, ’23 placed 8th with a strong time of 29.03.
Daphine K. ’23 earned medals in two events, placing 5th in the High Jump, and placing 6th in the triple jump. Lahari L. ’24 earned two personal records in the 100m with a time of 13.88 and the long jump with 14’ 8.5”. Her long jump was good enough for a 5th place medal at the meet.
Madeleine S-K. ’25 set two personal outdoor records at the meet with a Shot put of 20’ 5” and a Javelin throw of 42’ 0”. Simi A-H. ’26 also set a personal record in the pentathlon 800m with a time of 2:51.48 taking 5th place out of 19 competitors while Ana V. ’25 threw for a high school personal record of 44’ 10” in the Javelin.
