Winter Crew competed in the US Rowing Indoor National Championship in Atlantic City, NJ this weekend. Four of the five athletes set personal records at the National Championship.

The majority of our athletes finished solidly in the middle third of competitors, which is especially impressive because there is no ‘novice’ category at Nationals. Most erg competitions have a special category, “novice” for people who have been rowing competitively for less than one calendar year. All four of the athletes who traveled to Nationals (other than Bailey, whose accomplishments are noted below) would have qualified to race as novices if that category had been available so for them to still finish in the middle third of nationwide competitors was really impressive.
Bailey L-L. '23, who has committed to Hamilton to row in Division 3 next year, earned a bronze medal in the U23 category. Bailey has shaved 17 seconds off of her 2k time this school year, with 14 seconds of that dropping off in the winter season alone.
Crew would like to especially thank Dean of Students Shelley Maher for her support in their inaugural season. Ms. Maher was especially integral in the students getting to have the opportunity to compete on a national stage. She saw what an opportunity it would be and let us travel down there on relatively short notice. She has been really supportive of our budding winter program.
