Emma Archer Makes Her Mark in New England Competitions

Katie Coakley
As a PE Practicum, Emma Willard School freshman Liz S. has been refining her archery skills in lessons twice a week and competing against other archers across New England.

Last weekend Liz shot at the Lancaster Classic in Lancaster, PA, the largest tournament on the East Coast, drawing professional shooters from around the world. In Lancaster she was one of 1,800 competing archers and had the opportunity to shoot with Italian world champion Sergio Pagni and Sarah Sonnichsen from Denmark who is currently ranked 8th in the world.

Liz also recently competed in the Massachusetts State Championships, where she finished second overall.

She is currently preparing for the Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) and U.S. Indoor Nationals which will take place later this month, along with the 55th Annual New England Classic on February 15.

Please join Emma Willard School in wishing Liz continued good luck!
