Cluett House

Cluett House is a one-year residential experience for students who are interested creating positive world change. With the foundation of three tenets--People Care, Earth Care, and Fair Share--girls explore topics including democracy, service, social justice, consumer ethics, environmentalism, diversity, equity, permaculture, nonviolent communication, activism & advocacy, human rights, and global citizenship. Girls make a strong commitment to educating themselves and making choices that have only positive impacts on the local and global communities.
Cluett House has two kinds of programming: structured and unstructured. The structured programming includes scheduled house gatherings, events, and activities such as retreats, weekly seminars with guest speakers, House Dinners, and weekend Community Engagement Opportunities.
The unstructured programming occurs within the daily culture of the house and on campus, through the beliefs that form the foundation of how the residents choose to live their lives. Examples include: leadership opportunities, ethical consumer choices, environmentally-friendly living, democratic decision-making, sharing in house responsibilities, and maintaining a connection to local and global current events.
